Hawaiʻi Police Department’s backpack drive collects 275 for keiki
The Hawai‘i Police Department collected more than 275 backpacks for keiki from the community during its drive in June and July.
These backpacks will be given to Hope Services Hawaiʻi for distribution to keiki at shelters and transitional housing facilities before the new school year.
Special recognition goes out to HFS Federal Credit Union for its generous donation of backpacks.
Since 2008, Hawaiʻi Police Department in partnership with Hope Services Hawaiʻi, have been collecting school backpacks for children who cannot afford them. Backpacks are the most requested non-food item by charities in Hawaiʻi.
