Authorities renewing request for information in an unsolved murder case in East Hawai‘i
Hawai‘i Island police are renewing their request for information about an unsolved murder that occurred in Puna about two years ago.
The body of 76-year-old Michael Rosenbaum was discovered at MacKenzie State Recreation Area on July 31, 2021. He’d been reported missing six days before and was last seen alive on July 22, 2021, in Pāhoa town.
Rosenbaum’s body was found by a local fisherman on the cliffs below the beach park. An autopsy later concluded that Rosenbaum died from a gunshot wound.
The Area I Criminal Investigation Section is continuing this investigation, which is classified as second-degree murder.
