Keauhou Shopping Center gears up for start of new school year with supply drive, Back-to-School Bash

As students and teachers gear up to head back to class this fall, Keauhou Shopping Center in Kailua-Kona is providing various ways to celebrate the fresh start of a new school year.

Through a selection of upcoming events, shoppers can enjoy the last moments of summer and get ready for school in style.

To assist Big Island students and educators with preparing for the upcoming academic year, Keauhou Shopping Center is hosting a Back-to-School Supply Drive through July 29. In partnership with Get Ready Hawai‘i, community members are encouraged to drop off a variety of school supply items at participating businesses at the Kona mall.

Keiki can also celebrate going back to school at the KidX Club Back to-School Bash from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 29 at the mall. The event will feature crafts, yard games, balloon twisting, face painting, a bouncy house, giveaways and more. Registration is required. Families can register at Eventbrite beginning July 23.

Get Ready Hawai‘i will be at the shopping center during the bash to assist families who need supplies for the upcoming school year.

“Keauhou Shopping Center was the first corporate partner we established after I was named executive director of Get Ready Hawai‘i in 2017,” said Get Ready Hawai‘i’s Jeff Gourley. “The ongoing support of the shopping center makes the world of difference to so many children in need, and our annual back-to-school event is one of our most anticipated events of each year.”

From end-of-summer celebrations to school year preparations and everything in between, Keauhou Shopping Center’s back-to-school events will offer a unique and memorable experience for everyone who participates.

“We are excited to prepare kids, families and educators in the Kailua-Kona community for this coming school year,” said Keauhou Shopping Center General Manager Stephen Hicks in a press release. “We are looking forward to collaborating with our tenants and community, ensuring that students have the supplies they need when returning to school.”
