Kaʻū residents invited to learn more about proposed community-based solar facility

Nexamp, a community-based renewable energy developer and operator, is holding an online meeting on Thursday to provide information about Nā‘ālehu Solar, a proposed shared solar project that would be located south of Māmalahoa Highway in Nā‘ālehu on the Big Island.

The online information meeting, which will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m., will include an explanation of the organization and how it works, as well as a project overview of Nā‘ālehu Solar.

The project is part of Hawaiian Electric’s program for customers to lower their electric bill if they meet the income requirements.

Nā‘ālehu Solar is designed to support Hawai‘i’s goal of being 100% renewable by 2045. According to Nexamp, the solar project will generate clean power and help lower electricity costs for qualified low- to moderate-income subscribers.
