Weekly COVID Update: 538 New Cases Confirmed on Big Island

The state Department of Health reported 4,329 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, July 20, bringing the statewide total to 321,869. Thirteen new fatalities were reported.

A total of 538 new infections were reported Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 223,313
Hawaiʻi: 35,717
Maui: 36,561
Kaua‘i: 16,265
Moloka‘i: 1,182
Lana‘i: 767
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 8,064

Of those total cases, 10,971 required hospitalization, with 159 currently hospitalized. At least 1,548 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
