Kona Home Destroyed in Early Morning Blaze

No injuries were reported after a Kailua-Kona home was destroyed in an early morning fire.

Hawaii Fire Department responded to the single-family dwelling, located on Plumeria Road at approximately 12:47 a.m. When they arrived on scene, crews found the single-story structure fully engulfed.

The occupant of the residence out of the house prior the HFD’s arrival. The video above was captured by KAPA DJ Kahikina, which shows flames and black smoke billowing toward the night sky.

Firefighters started their attack and protected exposures with attack lines. The blaze was under control within 10 minutes.

On arrival found single story single family dwelling fully engulfed. Occupant out of structure prior to arrival.. Started fire attack and protected exposures with attack lines and was backed up by second in companies. Fire under control within 10 minutes.

Fire inspector on scene and immediately started investigation. Scene turned over to HPD and Fire Inspectors. HFD reports a loss of $245,000.
