In partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), children can download fun activities each week on ocean topics such as “Exploring Coral Reefs and Tide Pools.” And everyone who participates is “shore” to enjoy the ocean-related online programs.

“Get ready to have a ‘sand-sensational’ time reading and visiting your library this summer!” State Librarian Stacey Aldrich said in the press release. “You can even participate if you are on vacation and travelling! You can download great ebooks and eaudiobooks to read and keep track of all your minutes online. You can even learn something new about our oceans via our virtual programs! There are an ‘Ocean of Possibilities’ to be a part of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.”

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge goal is to read 1,000 minutes, and there are fun rewards for getting to the 300-, 600- and 1,000-minute marks. For every 100 minutes of reading logged, readers are rewarded with a virtual badge and up to a maximum of 10 automatic entries in the statewide grand prize drawing.
