Governor Releases $562K For Improvements at Kona Airport
Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport is getting a financial boost from the governor’s office for improvements.
Gov. David Ige recently released $562,139 in capital improvement project funding to finance additional construction costs for perimeter fence replacement at the West Hawai‘i airport.
“I’d like to thank Gov. Ige for releasing funding to finance the construction costs for additional fence replacement at the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport,” state Sen. Lorraine R. Inouye, who represents Hilo, Hāmākua, Kohala, Waimea, Waikoloa and Kona, said in a press release. “The Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport is a vital economic hub for Kona and the surrounding areas.”
She added that it’s critical that the state continues to support the airport as it carries on with renovation efforts.
