The National Weather Service reported no tsunami warning after a magnitude 4.7 earthquake rumbled the Hualalai region in West Hawai‘i just before midnight on Saturday, May 21.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the epicenter to be less than a mile northwest of Hōlualoa. Initially reported as a magnitude 4.5, USGS updated the tremor to 4.7.

USGS also recorded three temblors between Pāhala and Volcano earlier Saturday, ranging from magnitudes 2.5 to 2.7.

While NWS reports no tsunami warning, Hawai‘i County officials say they will inform the public should conditions change.
