Weekly Update: 53 New COVID Cases Confirmed on Big Island
The state Department of Health reported 827 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, March 23, bringing the statewide total to 239,591. Five new fatalities were reported.
A total of 53 new infections were identified Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.
The island-by-island case count is as follows:
O‘ahu: 165,789
Hawaiʻi: 26,142
Maui: 28,222
Kaua‘i: 11,776
Moloka‘i: 943
Lana‘i: 629
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 6,022
Of those total cases, 8,454 required hospitalization with 46 currently hospitalized. At least 1,373 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
