No Tsunami Threat After Local Earthquake
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) reports a 4.4 magnitude earthquake occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. Sunday, March 20 and was centered in the vicinity of Waikōloa in South Kohala.
The earthquake was not large enough to cause a tsunami.
As in all earthquakes, be aware of the possibility of after-shocks.
If the earthquake was strongly felt in your area, precautionary checks should be made of any damages; especially structural and to utility connections of gas, water, and electricity, the Hawai‘i County Civil Defense Agency reported.
