A high surf warning remains in effect for west facing shores of Hawai‘i Island from Upolu Point in North Kohala to South Kona through Saturday, the National Weather Service stated.
Surf is expected to continue to be 8 to 12 feet.
The warning means large breaking surf, significant shore-break, and dangerous currents make entering the water very hazardous.

Kahalu`u Beach Park and Mahukona Wharf are closed.
Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
