9 Deaths, 345 New Cases Reported Saturday

The state Department of Health reported 345 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the statewide total to 235,780. Nine new fatalities were reported.

A total of 44 new infections were identified Saturday on the Big Island. Hawai‘i County Civil Defense reported 696 active cases, and 15 persons hospitalized.

Community testing is scheduled for today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Hilo at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in South Kohala at the Waimea District Park, and in North Kona at the Old Kona Airport Pavilion.

Community testing hours will change starting next week Monday, Feb. 28, according to Civil Defense. For details about these changes and a comprehensive calendar and list of all pharmacies and clinics providing vaccination and testing, visit the Civil Defense website.

A total of 8,267 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 1,330 have died.
