UPDATE: The Hawai‘i Police Department reported in another advisory message at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, that Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway at the 81-mile marker in Kīholo is again open to traffic. Police urged motorists to drive safely.

The Hawai‘i Police Department reports that Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway in West Hawai‘i is closed because of a traffic accident.

The highway is closed at the 81-mile marker in Kīholo, North Kona. Motorists should use alternate routes.

Police reported the closure shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, via an advisory message. No further details were available at the time.
