Puna Woman Charged with Terroristic Threatening, Reckless Endangerment
A 31-year-old Puna woman was charged for an array of offenses stemming from a Jan. 25 incident involving a gunshot during a sibling dispute in the Nanawale Estates subdivision.
This marks the second time this week that an individual with a prior felony conviction and prohibited from owning or possessing firearms has been charged with discharging a firearm in a residential area, Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen stated in a press release on Thursday, Jan. 27.
Amber McAtee was charged with six offenses, second-degree reckless endangering, first-degree terroristic threatening, ownership of a firearm prohibited, possession of ammunition prohibited, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and prohibited acts related to drug paraphernalia.
The complaint also indicates that McAtee has a prior felony conviction for second-degree robbery.
McAtee made her initial appearance Thursday in Hilo District Court. Her bail was maintained at $40,000 and McAtee was ordered to appear for her preliminary hearing on Monday in Hilo District Court.
