42 New COVID Cases Reported on Big Island

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 206 new COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the statewide total to 86,522. Six new COVID-related fatalities were reported.

A total of 42 new infections were identified on the Big Island Friday. On Thursday, Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency reported 300 active cases, and seven persons hospitalized.

The state’s seven-day average is now 109 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.4%.

A total of 4,953 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 998 have died.
