Reported Daily COVID Cases Dip Slightly on Big Island

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 408 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the statewide total to 77,777. No new COVID-related fatalities were reported.

A total of 66 new infections were identified on the Big Island Saturday. On Friday, Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency reported 1,023 active cases, with 25 persons hospitalized.

The state’s two-week average is now 378 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 4.6%.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 54,139
Hawai‘i: 9,803
Maui: 8,943
Kaua‘i: 2,150
Moloka‘i: 217
Lana‘i: 139
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 2,386

A total of 4,214 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 747 have died.

To date, a total of 1,984,074 doses of vaccine have been administered statewide, with 67.2% of the population fully vaccinated and 75.6% who have received at least one dose.
