DOH Reports 8 More COVID-Related Deaths Thursday

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 588 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 73,268. Eight new COVID-related deaths were also reported.

A total of 96 new infections were identified on the Big Island Thursday.

The state’s two-week average is now 589 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 6.6%. A map documenting new cases by district across all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

Maui: 8,557
Kaua‘i: 1,867
Moloka‘i: 189
Lana‘i: 137
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 2,286

A total of 3,980 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 679 have died.

To date, a total of 1,947,776 doses of vaccine have been administered statewide, with 65.9% of the population fully vaccinated and 74.3% who have received at least one dose.
