National Weather Service officials have continued a High Wind Warning for the Summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa until Wednesday morning at six o’clock. According to officials, Winds are blowing to the west between 40 and 60 miles per hour, with gusts up to 70 miles per hour.
Additionally, the Mauna Kea Access Road is currently closed at the Visitor Information Center because of the winds, which rangers there called “hurricane strength.” There is no timetable on when the summit road will be reopened to the public.
