Hawai‘i Sees Full Week of Triple-Digit Virus Cases

The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 163 new cases of coronavirus statewide Wednesday, bringing the overall total to 39,649. One new COVID-related death was reported.

A total of nine new cases were identified on the Big Island Wednesday, with 203 active cases and eight individuals hospitalized, according to Hawai´i County Civil Defense.

Following a week straight of case counts in the triple-digits, the state’s two-week average is now 124 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 3.7%.

A total of 2,589 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 524 have died.

To date, a total of 1,733,089 doses of vaccine have been administered statewide. DOH reports that 59.4% of residents are fully vaccinated, while 65.8% have received at least one dose.
