Hawai´i County is reinstating its free community COVID-19 testing program as cases spike across the island and the state.
Hawai´i has seen five consecutive days of coronavirus totals well into the triple-digits. The state’s daily average over the last two weeks is now 106, and the Big Island has been responsible for a number of those cases, with tallies of newly identified infections ranging from the mid-teens to the high-20s every day.
Testing will occur on Tuesdays in Kona at the Kona Aquatic Community Center and Wednesday in Hilo at the Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium. The first round of testing will begin Tuesday, July 20 in Kona. Both locations will test between 3-6 pm and are scheduled through the month of August. S&G Labs will administer tests.
All testing is free and no appointments are necessary.
