Final Round of Virtual Public Meetings Scheduled for Comments on Transportation Improvement Program

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will be holding its second and final round of virtual public informational meetings on Hawai‘i Island and Kaua‘i to discuss and solicit comments on the draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for federal fiscal years 2022-25.

The STIP is a four-year programming implementation document that identifies state and county transportation projects, statewide, to be funded, in part, with Federal Highway and Transit funds. The STIP delineates the funding categories and the federal and local share required for each project.

HDOT is responsible for the development of the STIP programs for the islands of Hawai‘i and Kaua‘i, and the islands of Moloka‘i and Lana‘i.

Virtual meetings for the Big Island will take place Thursday, July 29, and Wednesday, Aug. 4. Both meetings will start at 6:30 p.m.

The virtual meeting for Kaua‘i will take place Monday, Aug. 2, at 6:30 p.m.

Written comments regarding STIP must be submitted by Friday, Aug. 13. Comments can either be mailed to the HDOT Highway Planning Branch at 869 Punchbowl Street, Room 301 Honolulu, Hawaii 96813. Comments can be faxed to 808-587-1787 or emailed to hwy.stip.projects@hawaii.gov.

Submit requests in a timely manner to allow an adequate period to fulfill requests.
