6 New COVID Cases Identified on Big Island
The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 55 new cases of coronavirus statewide Thursday, bringing the overall total to 37,484. No new COVID-related deaths were reported.
Six new cases were reported on the Big Island Thursday with 171 active cases and five persons hospitalized.
The state’s two-week average is 43 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.5%. A DOH map that tracks cases by district across all islands can be accessed on the department’s website.
The island-by-island case count is as follows:
O‘ahu: 26,941
Maui: 3,846
Hawai‘i: 3,162
Kaua‘i: 353
Lana‘i: 112
Moloka‘i: 56
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 1,274
A total of 2,436 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 513 have died.
The statewide vaccination rate is at 57%.
