Blood Bank Of Hawai´i Returns to Hilo Next Week

Blood Bank of Hawai´i will return to Hilo in May to host its monthly neighbor island drive.

Hilo donors can spring into action to help stabilize Hawai´i’s statewide blood supply. The three-day blood drive will take place from Tuesday, May 18 through Thursday, May 20 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Hilo Hawai´i Stake LDS Hilo Stake Center. Hours of operations vary by day:

●       Tuesday, May 18 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

●       Wednesday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

●       Thursday, May 20 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

“Our Hilo donors have endured a rough year, and we’re honored to work with those who can join us,” said Todd Lewis, Chief Operating Officer of Blood Bank of Hawai´i. “Because we’re heading into the summer when donations typically dip, we’re asking all new and loyal donors to please make and keep their appointment.”

Blood Bank of Hawai´i continues to prioritize the safety of its staff, donors and the community. Strict sanitation protocols and safety procedures recommended by the FDA, CDC and HDOH will be implemented. Blood Bank of Hawai´i hopes to secure 180 appointments per day consisting of all blood types.

Each donation can save up to three lives. Healthy donors interested in giving blood on Hilo may register at bbh.org or call 808-848-4770. As a reminder, an appointment is required as walk-ins can no longer be accommodated. Drive dates and times are subject to change.
