Big Island Hits 2,700 Cumulative COVID Cases

The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 119 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday. The statewide total is now 32,468. Zero new COVID-related deaths were reported.

Eight new cases of the virus were identified on the Big Island Friday, per DOH statistics. The state’s two-week average is 92 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.6%.

Most of the active cases on the Big Island are located in the Kailua-Kona and Hilo areas. A DOH map that tracks cases by district across all islands can be accessed on the department’s website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

A total of 2,142 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 483 have died.

To date, a total of 1,202,060 doses of COVID-19 vaccination have been administered statewide.
