Big Island Surpasses 2,600 COVID Infections Wednesday
The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 72 new cases of coronavirus Wednesday, raising the statewide total to 30,980. Two new COVID-related deaths were reported.
Fifteen new cases of the virus were identified on the Big Island Wednesday, per DOH statistics. A DOH map that tracks cases by district across all islands can be accessed on the state’s website.
The state’s two-week average is 85 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.6%.
The island-by-island case count is as follows:
O‘ahu: 23,871
Maui: 3,165
Hawai‘i: 2,604
Kaua‘i: 199
Lana‘i: 111
Moloka‘i: 34
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 996
A total of 2,064 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 473 people have died.
