Red Cross Responds to Structure Fire in Paradise Park

No injuries were reported after a structure fire in Paradise Park this morning, April 9.

Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the blaze at the 15-1400 block of 16th Avenue at 11:20 a.m. When they arrived on scene, crews found an approximately 1,200-square-foot post-and-pier single-story wooden-structure residence on fire. No fire hydrants were in the immediate area.

“The rear portion (was) engulfed in smoke and flames with smoke exiting windows,” HFD stated.

It was unknown at the time if the home was occupied. Crews performed a search but found no one. They extinguished flames utilizing attack lines and water shuttle operations.

Occupants of the home arrived on scene shortly afterward and confirmed no one was home.

Cause of fire under investigation.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross responded to the incident and reported four people had been impacted. Red Cross disaster volunteers are meeting with affected residents to ensure their immediate emergency needs for food, shelter and clothing are met.

Caseworkers will continue to follow up with anyone affected in the coming weeks to provide referrals, guidance, or additional assistance as needed to help with the recovery process.
