COVID-19 Outbreak Reported on University of the Nations Kona Campus
The University of the Nations Kona (UofN Kona) routine screening protocols have identified 20 positive cases of COVID-19 on Kona campus.
Those that tested positive have been isolated, contact tracing has taken place, and anyone who might have been in contact is currently in quarantine. UofN Kona has returned to having online classrooms and staff meetings, and as a temporary precautionary measure, the campus is closed to the public.
“We are thankful to the County and State of Hawaii and all the Departments that made it possible for our essential staff and volunteers to participate in the vaccination program last month,” school officials say. “We continue to work closely with the Department of Health, and are thankful for their expertise and assistance.”
As a long-term part of the Kona community, officials say, UofN Kona remains vigilant to act in the interest of the broader public they serve.
