COVID Spike Continues as Hawai‘i Registers Triple-Digit Cases Again
The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 103 new cases of coronavirus Monday, raising the statewide total to 29,511. No new COVID-related deaths were reported.
Monday is the fifth straight day Hawai‘i has registered at least 100 new cases of the virus. The state’s two-week average is 90 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.8%.
Ten new cases were identified on the Big Island Monday, which is on par with the county’s daily two-week average, per DOH statistics.
According to a DOH map, which tracks cases of the virus by district across all islands, at least 40 new cases have been identified in the Hilo area over the previous two weeks, while at least 25 have been reported in the Kailua-Kona area. Other districts are also reporting cases, though generally fewer than 10 over the previous two-week period.

Nearly 2,000 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 462 people have died.
More than 600,000 doses of the vaccine had been administered across all islands as of Monday.
