A community meeting to be held in North Kohala by the Hawaii Police Department has been rescheduled from next Tuesday to Tuesday, May 15, a police spokesman said.
Community meetings are rotated throughout the Big Island’s eight police districts to allow the public to meet the Police Department’s command staff and to discuss concerns with the police chief and commanders who oversee police operations in the those districts.
To aid police commanders in focusing on specific concerns, it is requested that participation be limited to persons who live or work in the district where the meeting is being held.
Capt. Albert Jason Cortez said in a written statement that the department apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the date change for the Kohala meeting.
He said anyone with a pressing need that can’t wait until May 15 or who can’t attend on that date can call him at 889-6540, stop by the Kohala police station in Kapa‘au or email their concerns or comments to [email protected].
