Raise Money and Run 5k For Fun
The black glassy asphalt of Waikoloa will feel the pounding of paced bi-pedal motion on Friday March 30, at 5 p.m. The Lavaman Sunset 5k is a yearly run geared toward family fun and fitness. This short run begins and ends at the gateway of the Queen’s Shops. Participants will wind their way through the Waikoloa Beach Resort’s picturesque landscaping.
Friday eve is a great opportunity for running enthusiasts of varying skill levels to participate in a short run, get their hearts pumping, and engage the public to raise awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
This run benefits the People’s Advocacy for Trails Hawai’i, or, (PATH) and the Aloha Tri Sport Goodwill Mission. PATH acts as voice for the community to instill the importance of accessible recreation, health and fitness. Safe and sustainable trails, bike trails and pathways are a necessary part of a healthy future for Hawai’i, according to PATH.
The Aloha Tri Sport Goodwill Mission is a group of biking enthusiasts who raise money and awareness for the provinces they visit and race in. In 2011, this group toured Camarines Sur, Philippines, visited with local school children, and serviced the population with mini health demonstrations and clinics. This year’s run will benefit the Goodwill team’s travels in 2012.
