Meteorologist Malika Dudley interviews National Weather Service Honolulu Meteorologist and Central Pacific Hurricane Center Forecaster Bob Ballard.

He discusses the research that was done with regard to the deflective ability of the mountains on the Big Island and also talks about whether the Big Island is a “buffer” for the other islands… you may be surprised by the answer.

This interview was conducted before Hurricane Lane came through the islands in August, and is an eerie prophecy of our current situation with Tropical Olivia approaching the islands.
