Flash Flood Warning Extended
The Flash Flood Warning for the island of Hawai‘i has been extended until 6:30 p.m.
At 3:35 p.m, radar and rain gages showed heavy rain continuing from the Hāmākua District to the Ka‘ū District. Rainfall has been occurring southwest of Wood Valley so the warning has been
expanded to include Na‘alehu. Recent rain rates have been 1 to 2 inches per hour. Highway 19 remains closed in several spots north of Hilo, and Akoni Pule Highway remains closed at mile marker 25.
Additional rain bands will continue to move over the Big Island from the south.

Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Hilo, Pa‘auilo, Waipio Valley, Haw‘i, Pepe‘ekeo, Kea‘au, Honoka‘a, O‘okala, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Mountain View, Pāhoa, and Na‘alehu.

A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads, and low lying areas. Move to higher ground now.
- Do not cross fast flowing water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.
