Ten Hawai‘i Fire Department vehicles and 21 HFD personnel arrived at the scene of a structure fire at 3:03 Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at 74-4920 Kiwi St. in Kailua-Kona. Firefighters found a 600-square-foot (approximate) single-level ‘ohana-type house fully engulfed in fire.

The structure, which was unoccupied at the time, was one of at least two structures on the property and was located behind a much larger structure at the same address.

A long curved driveway hindered access to the fire but it was successfully contained and extinguished at 4 p.m.

Personnel and apparatus from Fire Stations 7, 21 and 12 out of Kailua-Kona, Makalei and Keauhou stations respectively, as well as Volunteer Company 7 Bravo and 2 Battalion Chiefs assisted with the control and extinguishment of the fire.
