UPDATE: Flood Advisory Extended for Puna Fissure Area
The National Weather Service in Honolulu extended the Flood Advisory for Hawai‘i County until 1:30 p.m.
At 10:30 a.m., radar indicated persistent heavy rain over and just west of the active volcanic fissures in Puna.
Localized, slow-moving heavy showers were falling at rates of up to 2 inches per hour over portions of Nanawale Estates, Leilani Estates and Pāhoa.
These heavy showers will likely persist into the afternoon.
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu issued a Flood Advisory for Hawaii County at 7:50 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018, until 10:45 a.m.
At 7:46 a.m., radar indicated heavy rain over and just west of the active volcanic fissures in Puna.
Localized heavy showers were falling at rates of up to 2 inches per hour over portions of Nanawale Estates, Leilani Estates and Pāhoa. These heavy showers will likely persist through the morning.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Pāhoa.
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
