On Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, the Paradise Roller Girls (PRG) will host a coed roller derby game followed by a SuperFan Skate Party at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo. Come to watch the game, then stay and skate.

The roller derby game starts at 4 p.m. and will feature skaters from PRG and other Hawai‘i teams. The theme will be “Fairies vs. Scaries,” a throwback to the first game PRG hosted, in December 2010. During the game, fans will be invited to put exciting and entertaining “plot-twist” rule changes into action to help (or hinder) their favorite team or skater.

A roller-rink style free-skate takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and everyone is welcome, regardless of age or experience. There will be interactive games and contests for keiki, and costumes of all kinds are encouraged, dress up as a fairy or scary. Participants should bring their own roller skates (quad or inline) and safety gear—helmets are required. KapohoKine Adventures will be sponsoring this event, and will have a limited number of helmets available to borrow.

PRG will be collecting non-perishable food items for the “Bodacious Women of Pāhoa” Puna Disaster Relief Center. Bring donations to the donation station at the Civic between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
