So many of us put off planning for tomorrow that when the inevitable happens our family doesn’t know what to do. To bring ease and clarity to difficult conversations about what will happen to your property, assets, valuables, and even to your children when you pass away, Hawai‘i Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) is sponsoring “Estate Planning 101,” a free educational seminar. Attendees will learn how to start this important process that ensures their wishes are carried out “to the letter” when they die.

The event will be held Saturday, July 28, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Kohala Intergenerational Center (54-3853 Akoni Pule Hwy, Kapa‘au). For more information or to register, call (808) 930-7700, email marketing@hicommfcu.com or ask an HCFCU staff member. Seating is limited.

Presenter John Roth, attorney and founder of Hawai‘i Trust & Estate Counsel, will discuss:

  • The difference between a last will and testament and estate planning
  • The estate planning process
  • How to prepare for the initial consultation
  • Identifying when it’s time to review/revise an existing plan
  • Common hypothetical scenarios to help you get started

Hawai‘i Community Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit, federally insured financial institution owned by its 40,000 members. HCFCU’s branches are located in Honoka‘a, Kailua-Kona, Kaloko, Kealakekua and Kohala, along with Student Credit Unions in Kealakehe, Kohala and Konawaena High Schools.
