$70K Gifted for Mobile Showers for Puna Evacuees
On Monday July 9, 2018, Project Vision Hawai‘i and Pu‘uhonua o Puna were recipients of checks totaling $70,000 from multiple organizations that will be used to purchase two mobile shower trailers provided by HiEHiE.
The HiEHiE trailer is currently being used in Pāhoa at the temporary micro-housing lot set up in the property owned by Sacred Hearts Church.
Eight evacuees are currently living in the micro-houses provided by Hope Services Hawai‘i with 12 units still being prepared for residents in need.
At least one other location is currently being worked on in Hawai‘i Paradise Park to set up more temporary micro-housing units for Puna evacuees.
Pu‘uhonua o Puna volunteer Ashley Kierkiewicz talked about the effort in an interview after the event.
