South Hilo Crime Stats, June 1-7

The following is the South Hilo Neighborhood Watch weekly report from Friday June 1, to Thursday June 7, 2018:

BURGLARIES Three:

1. On June 6 at 1:16 am, unknown suspect(s) attempted to break into a store located near the 100 block on Banyan Drive. Entry was attempted by removing a jalousie from a side window. Nothing was stolen.
2. On June 5 between 11 p.m. and 11:48 p.m., unknown suspect(s) entered a business located on Furneaux Lane through a side window. Tools and clothing items were re- moved.
3. On June 7 at 7:26 a.m., police were notified that a bicycle with the words “police” on it was found in the waters off of Bayfront Highway. Responding officers found that the front door to the Mo‘oheau Police Substation had been pried open, and entry was made. The bike along with another one was stolen from the police substation at the Mo‘oheau Bus Terminal. It is believed that the police substation was broken into on June 6 at around 11:40 p.m.. Investigation revealed that Keola Werner-Kealoha, Male, 27-years-old is a possible suspect in this incident. Werner-Kealoha was arrested on June 7 at 10:03 p.m. on Kalakaua Street in Hilo. He is currently being held on three outstanding bench warrants totaling $10,150, and for theft of one of the bicycles. The second bicycle was located at the Keaukaha Canoe Club Hale on Bayfront on June 8, 2018.

Motor Vehicle Thefts Four:

1. On June 5 at approximately 1:15 p.m., unknown suspect(s) removed a maroon 1996 Honda Accord, license plate HMU131 from the parking stalls located near the 100 block on Kamehameha Avenue without permission. Vehicle not located.
2. Between June 1 and June 7, a maroon 1997 Nissan Sentra, license plates HCY630 was taken without permission from a hotel parking lot on Banyan Dr. The reporting party stated that her 45 year old hanai son is responsible for taking the vehicle. Vehicle not located.
3. On June 7 at approximately 3:57 a.m., unknown suspects removed a gray 2006 Toyota Corolla, license plates HJF319 and…
4. A white 2015 Chevy Spark, license plates ZCS040 from a business parking lot located near the 200 block on Kekuanaoa Street. Vehicles were not located.

Unauthorized Entry Motor Vehicle Seven:

1. On June 1 between 4 p.m. and 6:50 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a 2000 Lexus SUV while it was parked fronting a residence on Ipuka Street. A small amount loose change was removed from the vehicle.
2. On June 2 between 8 a.m. and 11:50 a.m., unknown suspect(s) broke the driver’s side window of a 1994 Geo 4dsd and removed a black backpack and black wallet within vehicle. The vehicle was parked on Old Mamalahoa Highway fronting the gated fence that blocks the access to Hakalau Beach.
3. Between June 3 at 8 p.m. and June 4 at 3:15 p.m., unknown suspect(s) entered a gray 2004 Toyota 4runner and a 2006 Toyota Tacoma through unlocked doors. Removed was a Bank of Hawaii debit card from the 4runner. Removed from the Tacoma was a Bank of Hawai‘i debit card and a State of Hawai‘i EBT card. The vehicles were parked behind a residence near the 300 block on Lehua Street.
4. On June 5 between 3 a.m. and 3 p.m., unknown suspect(s) had entered a 2006 Scion TC by breaking a side window while it was in a parking lot near the 100 block on Puainako Street. Several personal items were taken from the vehicle.
5. Between June 5 at 12 p.m. and June 6 at 7 a.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a silver 2007 Honda CRV by unknown means while it was parked at an apartment complex located on Ohai Street. Nothing was removed.
6. On June 6 between 9 p.m. and 9:50 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke the driver side rear window to a white 2017 Ford Escape while it was parked in a parking lot near the 1700 block on Kamehameha Avenue. A reusable bag was removed from the rear seat and left on the ground next to the vehicle. The contents of the bag were all accounted for.
