Fishing Tournaments Coming Up
Willie Kaupiko is bringing back his Kona Classic tournament and rolling out a new tournament, with an opportunity to win a trip to Las Vegas from Vacations Hawai‘i.
The public is invited to come to fishing tournaments in the coming months. The 23rd Kona Classic and the 1st Wicked Ahi Jackpot is going down.
The 23rd Kona Classic will be held Friday through Sunday, June 1 – 3, 2018, at the Honokōhau Boat Harbor and Club House and will have a variety of prizes and awards. The entry is $300 per boat and the awards will be based on the following flag fish (Marlin, Ahi, Mahimahi and Ono).
The second tournament will be a special an ahi fever type of event. The Wicked Ahi Jackpot will take place Friday through Sunday, July 20 – 22, 2018. There is eight places based on 75 team entries at $300 per boat. This gives everyone an opportunity to win something while the ahi is running on the golden coast of Kona.
Finally, if you are free to join in Miloli‘i for the Miloli‘i Classic, with over 30 years of hosting fishing tournaments, Uncle Willie will host a local one for the ohana in the village over Labor Day weekend Friday through Sunday, August 31 – September 2, 2018 in Miloli‘i.
The tournaments will use modified jungle rules, and participants can also buy tournament shirts, enter to win awesome prizes, eat ono food, and listen to music while having an opportunity to qualify and win a trip to Vegas through Vacations Hawai‘i.
Any help towards the tournament series is much appreciated and all profits will go towards Marine conservation and youth educational programs in and around Miloli‘i, through Kalanihale a 501c3 nonprofit.
