2018 HIplan Kona Launch Event
Two Hawai‘i Island businessmen are aiming to give prospective entrepreneurs a serious jump start at the Kona Launch Event of the 2018 Hawai‘i Island Business Plan Competition (HIplan).
Karl Fooks, President Hawai‘i Strategic Development Corp, will be talking about entrepreneur funding opportunities in Hawai‘i and David Cunningham, Founder Global Virtual Studios in Kona, will talk about creative arts opportunities in Hawai‘i at the Kona Launch Event.
The launch will be on Thursday, April 26, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Hale Iako at NELHA located at 73-970 Makako Dr. in Kailua-Kona.
This business plan competition is co-hosted by the University of Hawaii at Hilo and NELHA, and is administered by the Hawai‘i Island Chamber of Commerce (HICC). The competition is open to any individual or group (for-profit or non-profit) whose business plan focuses on developing startup or expanding a business based on Hawai‘i Island.
The purpose of the Competition is to stimulate development of an entrepreneurial ecosystem on Hawai‘i Island. The competition encourages contestants to develop or refine their business plans towards developing viable new businesses on Hawai‘i Island.
Entrepreneurs will learn how to enter the HIplan Competition to compete for $25,000 cash prize as well as learning about UH Hilo and HCC scholarships and other prizes.
