Learn How to Run a Great Meeting
The Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center will host a training called “Run a Great Meeting” with Elizabeth Kent, J.D., on Thursday and Friday, March 8 and 9, 2018.
Part of Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center’s “Tools to Transform Conflict” Training Series, the workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, UBC 127, 200 W. Kawili St. in Hilo ($3 parking fee applies).
“This two-day training provides tools to use in meetings to make them as effective as possible, emphasizing the importance of setting agendas, remaining focused and managing people,” said Kent.
The interactive experience is designed to significantly increase the capacity of those who plan, run and attend meetings.
“This workshop is perfect for anyone who is in a position to ‘run a meeting,’ whether on the job, on a board of directors, for your homeowner’s association or in a community setting,” Kent stated.
Kent has helped people and institutions find solutions to sticky problems for over 25 years. She has clerked at two federal courts of appeals, practiced commercial law, served as the Deputy Director at the Hawai‘i State Department of Human Services, taught at University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and directed the Hawai‘i State Judiciary’s Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
A trained facilitator and mediator, Kent teaches graduate classes in conflict system design and negotiation at UH-Mānoa and a variety of conflict resolution skills classes around the state. She has received the Hawai‘i Women Lawyers’ Distinguished Service Award and the Church of the Crossroads’ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Peacemaker Award.
The tuition for the training is $150 which includes lunch (group discounts and individual needs-based scholarships available). Go online to register, or contact Erika Ginnis at Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center: (808) 935-7844, ext. 1, or erika@hawaiimediation.org.
