Bicyclist, 70, Killed in Vehicle Collision

The Hawai‘i County Fire Department arrived at the scened of a bicycle-vehicle accident this morning, Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at 5:59 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 19 and Hau Lane in Hilo.

The 70-year-old male bicyclist died at the scene.

The 26-year-old male driver of the vehicle complained of neck pain and was taken to Hilo Medical Center.

Hamakua-bound lanes were blocked.

The cause of the accident is unknown and under investigation by the Hawai‘i Police Department.
