Panda Express Hilo Kitchen Fire Doused

Hawai‘i Island firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at Panda Express in Hilo on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at 6:36 a.m.

Upon arrival, HFD personnel found a small fire confined to the kitchen area of the business.

There were no occupants; employees or patrons present.

HFD used forcible entry to gain access to the interior.

While assessing the interior, firefighters found a propane gas line to an appliance on fire.

HFD personnel shut off the gas supply and there were no further damages.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Panda Express is located at 368 E. Maka‘ala St.
