Friends of Lili‘uokalani Gardens invites the public to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the passing of Queen Lili‘uokalani, the first queen and last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Hawai‘i.

A memorial service will be held in observance of the occasion on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Apostles in Hilo. The church is located at 1407 Kapi‘olani Street. Overflow and assisted parking will be provided.

In honor of the anniversary, churches and temples will toll their bells statewide at 8:30 a.m. on the same day.

The memorial service will be modeled after the Queen’s funeral program of 1917 at St. Andrew’s Cathedral where Lili‘uokalani was a member of the congregation. The Hilo service will be officiated by the Reverend Robert L. Fitzpatrick, current Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai‘i.
