Hawai‘i Wind Advisory for Strong Trade Winds

UPDATE 3:38 p.m.: The Wind Advisory is now in effect until 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6.

The National Weather Service says the strongest winds are expected to occur over higher terrain and where winds blow downslope.

A very strong high north of the islands will produce strong trade winds today.

Winds from the northeast to east are expected at 30 to 35 mph with gusts to 50
mph.

Winds are expected to subside quickly tonight.

Winds this strong can cause power outages, make driving difficult and swing doors open and shut forcefully.

Use extra caution when driving and be careful opening and closing doors.

Be careful using sensitive electronic equipment.
