Per a request from the President of the United States, Gov. David Ige has ordered that all U.S. and Hawai‘i state flags be flown at half-staff on Monday, Sept. 11, until sunset.
The action marks Patriot Day in honor of the nearly 3,000 people who died during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and the many courageous citizens who came to aid those in need.
The president also issued a proclamation designating Friday, Sept. 8 through Sunday, Sept. 10 as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance in memory of those who perished in the attacks, and to honor their families and first responders at ground zero in New York City.
