Ige Nominates Hawai‘i Island Executive to UH Board of Regents
Gov. David Ige has nominated corporate executive and consultant Douglas Shinsato to the University of Hawai‘i Board of Regents to represent East Hawai‘i County.
Shinsato is the co-founder of Anthill Ventures, a multinational incubator and advisor to technology start-ups across the world including in India, Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States. The company focuses on innovative digital technologies that improve people’s lives in the fields of tele-education, tele-health, sustainable food production and cyber-security.
Shinsato is also a board member for Creative Intelligence Associates, a leading Japanese branding strategy firm. The firm advises clients on branding and messaging strategies to increase customer satisfaction, revenues and profits.
“I am honored to be appointed to the Board of Regents,” said Shinsato. “I look forward to working with my fellow Regents on behalf of the UH and its extended community.”
Shinsato has a Bachelor’s and MBA from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctorate from the Stanford Law School. He is married to Jennifer Lindsay-Shinsato and has two adult children and one grandchild.
Shinsato’s appointment to the UH Board of Regents is pending Senate confirmation. Shinsato is slated to complete the term of the late Barry Mizuno which ends on June 30, 2018.
