Kona Coffee Living History Farm to Close Temporarily
The Kona Coffee Living History Farm will close temporarily from Monday, Aug. 28, to Tuesday, Sept. 5, to conduct preservation work. The historic site will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. Hands on History program presentation, “Backyard Groceries: Sustainability in the Kitchen Garden.”
The preservation work is being supported by a grant from the Historic Hawai‘i Foundation and Freeman Foundation.
Visitors are encouraged to visit the H.N. Green Store Museum during the closure, where Kona Historical Society (KHS) exhibits “The Kona Coffee Story: Along the Hawai‘i Belt Road.” The award-winning history exhibit is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In other KHS events, Healoha Johnston, assistant curator at the Honolulu Museum of Art, will be sharing her knowledge and perspective of Hawai‘i art on Aug. 30 as part of the monthly Hanohano `O Kona community lecture series. The event will be held at the West Hawai`i Civic Center from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
