Blue Zones Project to Host Kickoff Celebration in West Hawai‘i

The Blue Zones Project West Hawai‘i Kickoff Celebration will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at Kona Commons at the former Sports Authority location in Kailua-Kona.

Inspired by the world’s longest-lived cultures, the Blue Zones Project helps people live longer, better by improving their surroundings.

Grab your friends, family, and neighbors and enjoy this free, community-wide event to kick off Blue Zones Project.

The event will include games and activities, a Keiki Zone, cooking demonstrations, performances by local artists,  healthy food and the “Downshift Lounge.”

Discover how you can get involved in transforming West Hawai‘i into a place where healthy choices are the easiest to make.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn how following Blue Zones principles can lead to a longer, better life.

The event will feature Dan Buettner, National Geographic Explorer and New York Times best-selling author of The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who’ve Lived the Longest and The Blue Zones Solution.

Buettner, the founder and CEO of Blue Zones, is an internationally recognized explorer, educator, public speaker and co-producer of an Emmy Award-winning travel documentary.

He has appeared as a longevity expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Morning America, The Today Show, ABC World News, CBS’s The Early Show and CNN.

He is also the chairperson of Blue Zones Board of Directors.
